Classical Song Of The Day is a go!
Each day, this space will feature a new piece of "classical" music.
We'll get to why I put "classical" music in quotations in the next post.
We'll be covering everything from the well-known "warhorses" of the classical music repertoire to obscure, underheard, or undervalued little gems nearly lost in the heap of history.
For those that are inclined, we'll also include a short description of the piece, with information about the composer and the historical period in which he or she composed the piece. Yes, yes...some will argue that music is just music, enjoyable in its own right. We agree to an extent, but find that our listening experience is enhanced when we can contextualize what we're listening to.
We sincerely hope this prompts people to go purchase some records, or, even better - seek out live performances in their area.
At the very least, we hope to bring some wonderful music to eager ears.
